Data Collection Standards

Our benchmarks avoid the skewed pricing of international luxury chains and short-term tourist traps by gathering empirical data across three standardized consumer categories:

Private rooms, studio apartments, and family-run guesthouses located within continuous public transit access (subways, trams, or commuter rail).

Caloric staples purchased directly from neighborhood street markets, bakery counters, and state-subsidized worker cafeterias (Milk Bars / Mensas).
